Recording Gear
Sound Resources uses Digital Phase Studio Monitors, custom designed by Equipoise owner and founder Daryl Powell. Rolling Stone Magazine called this designer a "genius", and we agree. The proof is in the sound!
Crystal clear digital monitoring is handled with a pair of Roland DS-30a’s.
Our recording console is a Roland VS-2480 Digital Studio Workstation. 24 tracks with an additional 384 Virtual Tracks, you'll never have to settle for just one take. And for those who want the ultimate in sound quality, the VS-2480 supports multitrack recording at 96kHz. We’ve kept our ‘vintage’ ADATS (black face) for transferring older recordings. For sequencing, multi-track hard-disc recording and editing, Sound Resources uses Cakewalk and Sonic Foundry's Vegas software. Mastering and editing are performed using Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge software and plug-ins. Video editing is accomplished with Vegas Video 4.0, and sequencing through Cakewalk. DVD authoring is accomplished with DVD Architect.
Fred Schendel's world famous drum programming is accomplished using Cakewalk with Alesis D4 and DMPro percussion modules, and various Roland keyboards, modules and software libraries. Other handy software includes Sonic Foundry's Acid for looping. Sound Resources has just added the newest version of GigaStudio for accomplishing realistic orchestration. Our arsenal of GigaStudio discs includes sampled strings, harps, pipe organs, choirs, drums, woodwinds and brass, and we’re adding more in the near future.
An extensive CD library of sound effects is also on hand for spot production, or for sampling. Fast transfer of large digital sound files is handled via cable-modem.
We can mix down to CD, or to our Tascam DA-30 DAT Recorder. Other rack goodies include DBX and Alesis compressors, and Digitech EFX Processors.
